In Praise of Decay

At the heart of my work are processes that explore time and the transience of material. In an artificial, almost counter-natural act, defying our instinctive desire to preserve and prolong, I initiate accelerated processes of decay. These mimic and intensify natural aging, revealing new layers of meaning and beauty within the material.

Rust, beyond its aesthetic richness, holds symbolic weight. It is a mark of destruction, yet I use it as a creative force, drawing out form and color that honor the passage of time rather than resist it.

The iron releases its rust into surrounding fabrics, seeping into them like a story etched in matter, an intimate meeting between two elemental materials: iron and cotton, both born of the earth.

By bringing together opposites, the softness of fabric and the rigidity of iron, I seek to create a sense of balance. A visual and emotional space
where viewers are invited to reflect on themes of life and death, decay and memory, preservation and transformation, past and future.
