Cylinders wrapped in hand-woven fabrics are embedded with rusty discs in varying rhythms.
These disks, which had been patiently waiting on the studio shelves, are remnants collected from the closure of the “Leviathan” factory—a legendary institution for sewing and embroidery threads that marked a milestone in the history of Israeli textile production. Like many long-standing businesses in the field, it was shut down due to market changes and the overall decline of local industry.
The fabrics wrap partially glazed ceramic cylinders, allowing water to slowly seep from the cylinder through the vessel and into the fabric—gradually staining it over the course of the exhibition. The object lives and evolves over time, as the material becomes an active participant in the creative process.
Using remnants from local textile factories represents a kind of full circle: materials once intended for mass production are reborn as unique objects—a connection between a fading industrial past and contemporary artistic practice.
