The Windows screensaver is one of the most iconic images in the digital world: a photograph of a green hill under a blue sky titled Bliss, taken by Charles O'Rear in 1998 in Sonoma County, California. Since 2001, the image has appeared on at least a billion computer screens. In her work, Tamar Dgani creates a textile homage to this iconic image. The large scale of the piece seems to restore the landscape to its natural proportions- also in relation to the viewer- and invites reflection on where one is more likely to find true bliss, or at the very least, to contemplate it: on the computer screen, or beyond it.
